Meet kei, a fiery recording artist taking the New England hip-hop scene by storm. Growing up in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, MA, kei recalls always being surrounded by creative energy. Whether exploring activities like dancing and painting, or experimenting with her friends making music, creative pursuits have always been an integral part of kei’s life.
After releasing her debut EP baby steps (2021), kei was quickly embraced by the regional scene. Her follow-up terrible twos (2022) paid homage to influences like Rico Nasty and cemented her reputation as one of Boston’s most promising new voices. A Boston-New York-Los Angeles run for her “terrible tour,” coupled with the rise of her award-winning single “berserk,” earned her Jack Daniel’s Best New Artist of the Year at the 2022 Boston Music Awards. She followed with her deranged Halloween-ready EP CHILD’S PLAY, then joined Harvard University’s No Label Academy (2023) and delivered a standout Boston Calling 2024 performance.
