MAMADOU

MAMADOU is a vibrant, world-class ensemble led by Senegalese rhythm-guitarist and master drummer Mamadou Diop, whose career spans over 40 years. Based in Greater Boston, the band blends infectious West African rhythms with global influences such as highlife, juju, rumba, samba, salsa, and reggae, all rooted in rich guitar and percussion. Their lyrics, sung in multiple languages, celebrate themes of peace, love, family, hope, and friendship. Mamadou Diop has collaborated with renowned African artists including Baaba Maal, Thione Seck, and members of Youssou N’Dour’s Madison Band. Known for their high-energy, poly-rhythmic performances, MAMADOU delivers shows that are deeply soulful, joyfully uplifting, and irresistibly dance-driven. Multiple award-winning (including the coveted Boston Music Award) and firmly grounded in Senegalese musical tradition, the band brings a powerful, positive spirit to every stage.
