A Trike Called Funk is a Boston-based creative venture co-founded in July 2021 by MC & Dance Lead Aaron Myers and DJ Edward Galan, whose community-based activations feature music genres & dance forms spanning the African Diaspora in the Americas–from Funk to Hip Hop and Salsa to Samba. In collaboration with other local artists specializing in complementary types of music and dance as well as visual art traditions like graffiti, we orchestrate participatory arts experiences around our customized cargo tricycle, which is equipped with its own portable dance floor, power source, DJ equipment, sound system, as well as a large-scale free-standing frame for painting. A Trike Called Funk not only performs & entertains but also teaches & engages with the aim of unleashing creativity, fostering connectivity, and building community everywhere we pedal & park.
